OIST Research Internship Program, Japan

 


The OIST Graduate School provides educational and research opportunities through our Research Intern program in the STEM fields. Internships typically last from 2 to 6 months, allowing students to gain experience in a specific laboratory or learn particular techniques. Participants will work under the guidance of a Professor and contribute to OIST's research endeavors.

Internships can commence and conclude at any time during the year, with two application periods. For application details and deadlines, please refer to the "Apply to Research Internship" section.

Support:

OIST offers the following support to successful applicants:

1. Internship Allowance:

   - JPY 2,400 per working day (non-taxable, excluding weekends)

2. Commuting Allowance:

   - OIST Shuttle Bus Pass

3. Travel Expenses:

   - One direct round-trip air ticket (travel date closest to the placement term)

4. Accommodation:

   - Furnished apartment on or off-campus

5. Other Support:

   - OIST will assist in visa acquisition, insurance procedures, and local registration, exclusively for the student. Dependents and family members of the student are not covered.

Regulations:

Applicants planning to import biological or hazardous materials for their research should ensure compliance with their home country's regulations, any transit country's regulations, and those of Japan. They should complete all necessary importation paperwork well in advance.

Comprehensive regulations on matters such as payment, intellectual property rights, attendance, health, safety, and other relevant topics have been established and will be accessible to successful applicants.
